About AMIRIX

University Scholarships

In 2003, scholarships in the name of Dr. Douglas G. Pincock were set up at three Atlantic Canadian Universities with Engineering programs: Dalhousie University, University of New Brunswick and Memorial University of Newfoundland. In addition to academic achievement, preference is given to students involved in extracurricular activities.

The awards were established by AMIRIX Systems Inc. to honour Dr. Pincock who, along with support from other researchers at the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Dalhousie University and the Nova Scotia Research Foundation Corporation, led the development of the concept and founded the Applied Microelectronics Institute as a centre of research and development excellence in 1981 (the name was changed to AMIRIX Systems Inc. in 1999). The scholarships are valued at $2,500 annually for a five-year term, and the first were awarded in the fall of 2003.
